Description | It is the largest indigenous snake on the Korean Peninsula and is typically 140-180 cm long. A sturdy built rat snake in which the head is only slightly offset from the neck. Dorsally, the pattern is a series of 20-30 black or nearly black saddles separated by yellow to brown cross bands that divide into an upside-down "Y" laterally. |

Accommodation | Natural habitats include moist woodlands and open forests. Branches for climbing and sun bathing. A minimum of two hides, a warm one and a cooler one. Snakes are cold blooded animals and regulate their body heat by soaking in the sun or hiding in the shade. Also using their hides to "stalk" or wait for dinner.
