Place of Origin and Range | The Helmeted gecko or helmet head gecko is a member of the gecko family native to the west coast of Africa. |
Description | Helmeted gecko colours can be anywhere from light grey to dark brown. The underside of the gecko is light-coloured. Helmeted geckos are the first vertebrates to be found to see colour in very low levels of light and has the most acute nocturnal colour vision. |

Accommodation | The environment they live in is sandy and rocky desert with sparse vegetation. The gecko is mainly nocturnal. Helmeted geckos require a humid environment. Most geckos prefer warm habitat with lots of shade and hides. High humidity and lots of branches for climbing. Provide a small water dish and mist twice daily. Cover the sides of the cage when possible to prevent injury to your gecko from running into glass. The temperature should be allowed to reach 30'C(86'F) during the day. |
