Origin And History The desert cat has been a landrace native to Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, and the United Arab Emirates for more than 1,000 years. Desert cats are well adapted to the hot, Middle Eastern environment.
Personality The Arabian Mau Cat is known for how well it can adapt to new environments. They are always positive about a new place to explore. This cat breed goes out of its way meet new people. Owners find it very cute that the cat will interrupt whatever it is doing to greet new visitors at the door. The Arabian Mau Cat can not get enough interaction. Owners of this cat should expect to see it along their side most of the day. This cat is good for homes with children. It does a good job tolerating their unfledged behavior. People that have dogs in their household may attempt to bring the Arabian Mau Cat into their home and yield positive results. This cat has little problem sharing its living space with dogs. The Arabian Mau Cat is not affectionate. Do not expect this cat to curl up next to its owner when they are having a bad day. Arabian Mau Cats are extremely playful. Owners can expect this cat to be ready to play at almost any moment in the day. This cat has a little more energy than other breeds, which makes it more active. Appearance The Arabian Mau Cat has been known for its medium size and this has been a deciding factor for many owners of this breed. Its build is best described as well-shaped, sturdy, and well-proportioned. Future cat owners that are searching for a medium sized cat breed will be very pleased with this cat as it often weighs within 9 lbs (4.1 kg) to 16 lbs (7.3 kg). The Arabian Mau Cat has a heritage with depth. The breeding of its pedigree has led to a fur coat (or lack-there-of) that is commonly described as well-kept, fuzzy, and sleek. People looking to purchase a Arabian Mau Cat will find that these cats are available in colors like red, white, black, black and white, and brown and brown tabby. Some of the more rare colors are exotic among cat breeds. Most Arabian Mau Cats have a medium length tail, which helps compliment their overall body structure. This is another breed that has rather medium sized eyes, but this is not the most predominate feature of the Arabian Mau Cat breed; because it has so many other qualities that draw one’s attention.
Health Owners should be aware that the Arabian Mau Cat breed will have health problems as it ages. While many cat breeds do have some mild health issues, common ones for the Arabian Mau Cat breed are Tapeworms, Fleas, and Vomiting. Allergic reactions are not common, but may occur in people with cat allergies that come near the Arabian Mau Cat breed.
