Place of Origin and Range | Found in south western Texas and portions of eastern Mexico. |
Description | Newborns are grey with numerous thin dorsal addles and lateral blotches. Adults are typically pearlescent grey, orange-brown, or burnt orange. The skin between the scales may be suffused with orange, red, or salmon. Two distinct lateral stripes are present, as are two dorsal stripes. which are often connected by faded juvenile pattern. |

Accommodation | A desert savannah with 3-5 inches of sand to allow for burrowing. You will want to include a large dish for bathing and soaking in to improve shedding. Always include a day basking spot at 80'F(27'C). Along with multiple hides. Minimum 2 x 2 x 4 feet for an adult. |
Lifespan | Can live 15-20 years |
Feeding / Diet | Lizards(Newborns), mice, and rats. Depending on the size of your snake. No bigger than the diameter of the thickest part of the snake. |
Breeding | They are oviparous, laying a clutch of up to 10 eggs that take about 3 months to hatch. |
Other Considerations | Snakes are relatively hardy low maintenance animals when kept in the correct environment, and require little day to day care other than feeding and cleaning out the tank as required. However, like all animals, they can still become sick or injured despite our best intentions to prevent this. |
