Bearded Dragon

Place of Origin and Range Bearded dragons originate from central Australia, where they live in the arid and subtropical woodlands, scrub lands, savannah, shore areas, and into the great interior deserts.
Description Part of the Lizard family, their characteristics include broad, triangular heads and flattened bodies with spiny scales arranged in rows and clusters. These are found on the throat, which can be expanded when threatened, and at the back of the head. These spiny scales are used to scare off predators, yet they are not very sharp.

Adult Size Can grow up to 22in(55cm)
Accommodation Dry desert habitat with rocks secured in place before adding substrate, branches for climbing. A hide to help regulate temperature along with a day basking spot at 80'F(27'C). Always include a dish big enough for bathing, but not big enough to drown in.
Lifespan Can live 8-10 years
Feeding / Diet Eats greens, grasses, hays, alfalfa, dried lentils, dried and fresh peas, insects.
Other Considerations Bearded dragons display a hand-waving gesture to show submission, and a head-bobbing display to show dominance between dragons.
