Dumeril’s Boa

Place of Origin and Range Native species only on the island of Madagascar in the Indian
Ocean.

Morph Patterns Available Yes
Adult Size Can grow 5 - 8 feet (1.5 - 2.4m)
Accommodation Dumeril's Boa's are unlike other boas when it comes to their habitat requiring lower humidity (50-70%). Branches for climbing and sun bathing. A minimum of two hides, a warm one and a cooler one. Dumeril's boas like to burrow. A softer substrate like moss or loose earth is best. Snakes are cold blooded animals and regulate their body heat by soaking in the sun or hiding in the shade. Also using their hides to "stalk" or wait for dinner. A day basking lamp(basking spot 80'F(27'C)or some snake owners prefer under tank heating. Also you want to include a bathing dish big enough for your snake to climb in without overflowing. To improve shedding. 2 ft x 2 ft x 4 ft terrarium for an adult.
Lifespan Can live 10+ years
Feeding / Diet Depending on the size of your snake you may require mice, rats, chicken,
or rabbit. Frozen feed can be found and is recommended due to health risks with using live food.
Other Considerations Snakes are relatively hardy low maintenance animals when kept in the correct environment, and require little day to day care other than feeding and cleaning out the tank as required. However, like all animals, they can still become sick or injured despite our best intentions to prevent this.
