Javanese

Origin And History The breed was developed in North America and its name is derived from the tradition of naming oriental-type cats after south-east Asian places. The Javanese cat is not from Java nor Indonesia. Genetically they are long-haired Oriental. The term "Javanese cat" was coined by a Helen Smith of MerryMews Cattery circa 1950. It is unknown if she had ever traveled to Indonesia. The name is derived from the tradition of using the names of the countries and islands of south-east Asia for Oriental cat breeds.
Personality The Javanese Cat has very little problem with moving into a new home. It will adjust fairly well to the changes in its environment. While the Javanese Cat is not a social butterfly when it comes to making new human friends, it is certainly not a hermit either. It will make new human friends when introduced to them. The Javanese Cat is happy with, or without, interaction. This cat breed has no problem patiently waiting for its owner to get some free time to interact with it. Much like the dogs in their household may attempt to bring the Javanese Cat into their home and yield positive results. This cat has little problem sharing its living space with dogs. This cat enjoys being loving. Owners can expect this cat to snuggle up with them after a long day out. Owners will have their hands full with this cat as it loves to play. The Javanese Cat is very playful. The Javanese Cat is a high energy cat breed that loves to run around and have fun.
It is noted as an intelligent cat and tends to vocalize, though often for no apparent reason. They are notably fond of play, jumping and human contact and allegedly depressed if regularly not entertained by humans or other pets. They are reportedly good mouse hunters.[

Physical Attributes

Appearance The Javanese Cat is considered to be a small sized cat breed and is often described as petite. Because the Javanese Cat breed is a small sized cat breed it often weighs between 7 lbs (3.2 kg) to 10 lbs (4.5 kg). This cat would fit well in a small sized home! With its outer layer often described as tousled, radiant, and sleek; The Javanese Cat is truly a marvelous creature with its own refined beauty. This is one of the most popular cat breeds because of its colour scheme. The Javanese Cat breed is often found in colour-point colours. The long length tail found in most of the Javanese Cat breed is believed to help the cat with balance, grace, and agility. This is another breed that has rather large sized eyes, but this is not the most predominate feature of the Javanese Cat breed; because it has so many other qualities that draw one’s attention.
Health This cat breed is not ideal for limited budget homes because of its constant health problems. As the Javanese Cat ages, its owners will notice that it has started to develop health issues. Health issues are common among domesticated animals. This cat breed may be susceptible to Diarrhea, Vomiting, and Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease. People with cat allergies should be safe around the Javanese Cat breed because it is hypoallergenic and should not cause an allergic reaction.
