Sonoran Gopher Snake
| Place of Origin and Range | Found in southern Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, western Texas and south into Mexico. |
| Description | This is a thick bodied snake with a small head. Ground colour is cream, to straw yellow. The saddle-shaped dorsal blotches are reddish brown colour, except for near and on the tail, where they are dark brown or blackish. |

| Accommodation | A desert savannah with 3-5 inches of sand to allow for burrowing. Or semi-arid grassland. You will want to include a large dish for bathing and soaking in to improve shedding. Always include a day basking spot at 80'F(27'C). Along with multiple hides. Minimum 2 x 2 x 4 feet for an adult. |

| Feeding / Diet | Lizards(Newborns), mice, and rats. Depending on the size of your snake. No bigger than the diameter of the thickest part of the snake. |
| Breeding | Adult females lay 7-22 eggs in July or August. The eggs average 51 x 35 mm (2 x 1.4 inches). The newborns(hatchlings) are about 40 cm (16 inches) in total length. |
| Other Considerations | Snakes are relatively hardy low maintenance animals when kept in the correct environment, and require little day to day care other than feeding and cleaning out the tank as required. However, like all animals, they can still become sick or injured despite our best intentions to prevent this. |
